Specialisation Description

Consecutive Master's programme Italian Language will provide the graduate with comprehensive linguistic and literary knowledge in the field of Italian philology. Depending on the individual choice of obligatory elective components, graduates receive deeper literary training or profile more closely in the field of linguistics in specialist legal and administrative language. Practical language skills and intercultural competencies will also be developed.

Graduate profile

In the area of linguistic and communicative skills, graduates will acquire skills corresponding to level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Based on modern approaches to scientific description of the language, graduates will extend their system knowledge of Italian language. Synchronic study of linguistic phenomena is also enriched with diachronic aspects, in accordance with current linguistic tendencies. Graduates will acquire knowledge of syntax of contemporary Italian, from text linguistics, pragmalinguistics and corpus linguistics. They will receive a thorough training in intercultural communication in the field of administrative law.
Building on the basic knowledge of literary history and work with texts obtained during Bachelor's studies, graduates will broaden and deepen their knowledge, especially as regards the earlier stages of development of Italian literature.
Due to their advanced linguistic, cultural and communication training, graduates will be able to find employment wherever a public or private employer requires a high level of linguistic knowledge, intercultural competences, and independent, critical and creative thinking, in positions such as a translator, an editor, a liaison officer with an Italian - speaking environment, public relations, etc.
