The specialisation English language and literature provides students with the knowledge of English at C1 level and basic knowledge of English and American literature and linguistics. Main characteristics of the specialisation:
- The aim of the programme is to offer students a well-grounded fundamental overview of English literature, American literature and English language studies.
- The study of English language and literature is a dual specialisation programme paired with another specialisation offered at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.
- The aim of the programme is to provide students with a solid foundation in English grammar, basic knowledge of English literature and additional practical English language courses focused on the development of the students' spoken and written English language skills. This is followed by an offer of elective courses concentrated in the third final year of studies enabling the students to choose a linguistic or literary specialization It is assumed that the choice of this specialization will correspond to the choice of the subject of the student's Bachelor's thesis.
